Are you a GREAT handyman with leadership experience? If so, I want to talk with you! It's prime-time handyman season. We are busy and need to bring one more handyman expert on board. Not just any handyman, but a STAND-OUT handyman...one who can do excellent work for our customers and bring leadership skills to boot. What kind of leadership, you may ask? Well, we are seeking a professional handyman experienced in ESTIMATING, SCHEDULING, and PROJECT MANAGEMENT.


Here's the plan: Show us what you can do. We envision that you will spend approximately 6 months in the field, getting first-hand experience in the jobs we do and the geographic areas we serve. You'll get to know our current team and their relative strengths as you earn their respect. You'll meet our customers, sub-contractors, and vendors. You will ride with our Lead Estimator and/or an experienced handyman as you demonstrate your skills while learning about HandiCo. You bring the handyman expertise and we will train you on our processes. We will groom you to be a leader for HandiCo.


Here's the next part: When you are prepared, you'll take responsibility for estimating and leading the jobs. You'll also take on scheduling, allowing our owner to concentrate on other activities to expand our business. You might handle email correspondence, tackle emergencies, and dispatch team members to job sites. Make no mistake -this is an opportunity to be a leader in our small, thriving handyman company.

Experienced with carpentry, drywall, electrical, painting, plumbing, and general trade skills? Proficiency with all 5 skills is required.


Comfortable remodeling a kitchen or bathroom? If so, you likely have the skills we are seeking for the small (NOT large, back-breaking) jobs we do.


Keeping an eye out for estimating and project managing responsibilities?


Able to quote a job and lead the effort until completion?


Interested in year-round work, great pay, generous bank of days off, and a retirement plan? We pay for ALL hours worked (not just the hours we bill customers), including drive time.


Enthusiastic about working 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday? No evenings, no weekends.


Detail-oriented, organized, and a good communicator?

The Handyman Leader position is a full-time, exempt-level position with a salary and bonus potential. The primary responsibilities during the initial, six-month training period are to order and deliver materials to the job site, perform handyman work, properly maintain all paperwork, supervise sub-contractors on occasion, and collect customer payments.


Typically, we do small jobs in houses or condos that homeowners don't want to do, don't know how to do, or don't have time to do:


Electrical: Replace lights, fixtures, ceiling fans, switches, or run electric for same


Drywall: Patch a hole in drywall...so no one knows it is a repair


Plumbing: Install a new faucet, drain lines, or valves


Painting: Paint a small room or ceiling; spot paint after drywall repair


Carpentry: Mount bath hardware, shelving, pictures; assemble and mount bookcases; repair stairs, railings, gutters, and fences


General: Pressure washing, deck staining, interior/exterior caulking, backsplash tile work, repair/replacement of tile, minor concrete/masonry work


Beyond the handyman work itself, you will act as the primary contact for the customer, managing daily communication of customer expectations, job status, and any necessary changes to the scope of the project. Accurate and timely feedback to the office is essential.

Job Title: Handyman Leader


Reports to: Lead Estimator


JOB SUMMARY:


In representing HandiCo in a highly professional manner, the initial responsibilities of the Handyman Leader are to deliver materials to the job site, perform handyman work, properly maintain all paperwork, supervise sub-contractors on occasion, and collect customer payments.


Beyond the handyman work itself, other duties include acting as the primary contact for the customer, managing daily communication of customer expectations, job status, and any necessary changes to the scope of the project. Accurate and timely feedback to the office is essential.


The ideal candidate for the Handyman Leader is neat, detailed, and organized. He/she enjoys working independently or in a small group, possesses solid verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrates a work ethic of the highest professional manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Specifically, the Handyman Leader is experienced with electrical, drywall, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general trade skills. The duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:


Electrical: Replacing lights, fixtures, ceiling fans, switches, or running electric for same


Drywall: Patching a hole in drywall


Plumbing: Installing a new faucet, drain lines, or valves


Painting: Painting a small room or ceiling; spot painting after drywall repair

In conjunction with the above duties, the Handyman Leader:


Examines the job specifications to ensure understanding of the project scope and budget


Reviews material list and edits as necessary; verifies "good" condition of material


Participates in an initial walk-through with the salesperson and customer


Maintains a neat, orderly, and safe work site while protecting the customer's property


Removes debris from the job site and coordinates with the office for trash removal when necessary


Participates in the final walk-through with the customer and creates a list of unfinished items


Maintains vehicle in a clean and safe condition


Attends meetings as scheduled


Maintains a professional appearance by wearing the Company uniform and exhibits professional behavior


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


High school diploma, GED, or equivalent


10 years of experience with electrical, drywall, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general trade skills listed above or comparable combination of education and experience


Able to work independently and as part of a small team; solid verbal and written communication skills; able to speak and email with Office Manager, Company officers, vendors, and customers


Highly detail-oriented, neat, and well-organized; able to properly handle confidential information; able to conduct self in an ethical, honest, and professional manner


SPECIFIC SKILL QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform successfully as a Handyman Leader, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The standards listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction contracts/agreements, blue prints, procedure manuals, and estimates. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of geometry to determine dimensions and materials needed.


Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and challenges where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to successfully communicate those solutions to the customer and co-workers.


Equipment operation skills: Ability to use and operate all basic carpentry hand and power tools. Must hold valid driver's license and the ability to safely drive a vehicle.


Physical demands skills: Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 80 pounds of product and material. Ability to frequently drive up to a 10-mile radius to reach customer homes and other facilities. Ability to frequently lift and climb a 32-foot ladder.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
